PURCHASING MANAGER / SENIOR AGENT
Sequence has been exclusively retained and is currently seeking a Purchasing Manager or Senior Agent for one of the states most respected niche production homebuilder that is now establishing a new divisional operation in the Santa Rosa / Napa Valley Marketplace. This is a full time direct hire position slated for immediate hire.
KEY PURCHASING POSITION FOR NEW NORTHERN CA DIVISION
The purchasing manager / agent role will source, negotiate, and contract with vendors, maintain competitive bid process, monitor job cost reports, evaluate subcontractor performance, develop and maintain budgets, recruit and supervise all personnel within department. Supported by corporate operations, this person must have a thorough working knowledge of quality cost estimation, value engineering, strong leadership, and negotiating skills.
Key Duties / Responsibilities:
The key position, working directly under divisional leadership, would be charged with taking on purchasing and hand-off of project efforts to field construction personnel; essentially from initial scope, to bid, and through subcontractor/vendor contracting and final purchasing.
In addition to hands on purchasing, the position also serves as the vital office connect and support to project managers and field personnel on all endeavors. Additionally, participating in vendor and subcontractor development support thru relationship and capacity building. Projects will be based in the Napa Valley and Bay Area with some regional travel.
The right match to the opportunity would be an individual with background in Construction, Engineering, Architecture or related field. Prior Residential Homebuilding, preferably with production construction, or understanding of those types of construction processes are essential. Though an individual with past homebuilding or customer build experience that is now in a different area of construction related purchasing and can make the transition back to the domain would be considered.

So, while the desire is to find someone that is technically proficient, key will be the having existing relationship or ability to develop subcontractor and vendor relationships in this tight construction marketplace and environment. This means a capable purchasing manager or agent that can hit the ground running is of the highest priority. This includes being able to mentor staff and enhance the current in-house estimating system.
